POSADA
Set securely on top of a calcareous cliff mantled in euphorbia and mastic trees, the village is overlooked by the ruins of the Castle della Fava. Posada maintains its medieval layout with winding little streets joined by steep steps, arches and small
squares.
The castle has also undergone restoration; a wooden staircase leads to the top of the square tower from where you can enjoy a wonderful panorama of the sea, of the estuary of the River Posada and over the plain covered with citrus-fruit orchards.
The territory has been inhabited since ancient times, as is demonstrated by the Carthaginian colony of Feronia. Some theories claim that Posada had been the landing point of the Shardana, a sea people coming from Asia Minor.
Awarded in 2009 with the prestigious “5 vele” award by Legambiente, Posada is one on the top-ten sea resorts in Italy, thanks to the untouched beauty of its beaches and its crystal-clear waters.
